General Description of EFT Training
The Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) professional training programs at India EFT Council are delivered by authorised and accredited EFT trainers. This ensures that you receive training aligned with international standards, and based on the latest research in attachment, emotion-focused practice, and relational science.
Our EFT training journey begins with foundational and introductory programs that help therapists understand the core model, key interventions, and the theoretical foundation behind attachment-based couples therapy. These introductory workshops give a comprehensive overview of what EFT is and whether it is the right direction for your practice.
The Introductory Course is a one-day workshop where you will learn the stages of EFT, the essential steps of the model, and the key theory behind attachment in relationships. This course is also ideal if you want to start with a short course before committing to a full certification journey.

From there, you may move into our 4-day foundational training (called the Externship), which offers a deeper understanding of EFT and gives you direct tools to begin practicing the model in your therapeutic work with couples.
The EFT Couples Therapy Training
1. Foundation: 4-Day EFT Externship (Introductory Module)
The first step is our 4-day EFT Externship training. This course provides the essential foundation for becoming an EFT therapist. Throughout the course, you will learn the theoretical core of Emotionally Focused Therapy and observe demonstrations and clinical examples to support integration into your practice.
2. Core Skills — 8 Days of Advanced Training
Following the Externship, participants may join the advanced 8-day Core Skills program. This training is divided into 4 modules and focuses on the deeper stages of EFT, intervention skills, and therapist presence. In Core Skills, you will receive supervision and feedback on clinical application and live demonstrations from experienced therapists.
3. Masterclass & Specialist Training
Masterclass programs are designed for therapists who want advanced specialization in areas such as:
Trauma-informed EFT
Sexuality & intimacy
Post-affair recovery
Family & cross-cultural relationship work
These are advanced programs taught by certified and experienced EFT trainers and supervisors.
4. Certification in EFT
Participants may choose to complete EFT certification through India EFT Council or affiliated international partners. Certification involves integration of the model into clinical practice. To become certified, therapists must complete the Externship, Core Skills 1-4 and fulfill supervised practice requirements.

Certification in EFT

What certification requiresThe same standard, three modalities.
The route above is the couples track. EFT is trained and certified the same way for individual and family work, each through its own ICEEFT-recognised pathway.

Supervision is the part that makes it real.
Training days give you the model. Supervision is where it becomes yours. Between Core Skills and certification you work with a certified supervisor on live material from your own caseload, which is where most of the actual learning happens.
